Mike MacFarlane was genuinely nervous about appearing on the same bill as one of his favourite singer-songwriters; Dan Willson of Withered Hand, while Dan was in turn really excited about being on stage with visiting Oklahoman (is that how you say it?) Samantha Crain, of whom he was a big fan. Sam herself just took it all in her stride.

Sleep The Winter single launch at The Bowery

Featuring Sparrow & The Workshop and Withered Hand

Eagleowl‘s captivating new single, Sleep The Winter, was given a rousing launch at the Bowery, as part of the venue’s triumphant final weekend. Stalwart support was offered by Jill and Nick from Sparrow & The Workshop, and Dan from Withered Hand. (Regrettably I didn’t get any shots of Dan during his set as I was caught up in a sold-out-gig-with-one-person-left-all-alone-outside problem which was largely my fault). If you don’t already own a copy of the Sleep The Winter, I urge you to buy one now before they all sell out!

One of the evening’s highlights for me was definitely Scott‘s karaoke version of Boombastic by Shaggy, but that’s a whole different story. Long before the night disintegrated into drunken caterwauling we were treated to some brilliant music from a glittering galaxy of stars, and it was all for charity. As you can see I managed to get some shots of The Parsonage, Withered Hand, Aberfeldy, Meursault and Come On Gang!, but there was even more on the bill that I missed. A great line-up, a fantastic night, well done to all concerned!

Good News Album Launch

Featuring King Creosote, Jo Foster and Eagleowl

Withered Hand decided to bother the locals down at Leith Dockers’ Club to celebrate the release of their 17-starred, chart-topping (nearly) debut album, Good News (Buy it here. Now. It’s brilliant.) They were helped out on the night by a few good mates, including Jo Foster, Eagleowl and King Creosote. You don’t need me to tell you it was a fantastic night.
